RE: 1000 Trails, my worst camping mistake!

Not to mention, you get to pick your own spot. When we didn't belong to ODW, we booked with another CG we had been out many times before. We were given this******site that we barely could fit on, looked like a dump area for trees etc. We were stuck having to leave because they had no other open sites.(On 4th of July weekend, imagine that one) I will never go to Pine Haven in NJ ever again! That makes me happy we are ODW members, we know what we are getting before we even get there;) There will always be those who don't care for the resort type places, but I personally wouldn't go out in the forest somewhere.. to each their own, right? WOW!!!! we just bought a tt and outdoorworldand i used to go to them when i was a kid and i have had nothing but good things to say about it reservation system is great campgrounds here on the east coast are awesome and there is about 11 with in 4 hours drive for me and the amount of camping we do it is worth it you never have to guess what is gong on activity wise they always have it posted on the website so the kids love it

RE: 1000 Trails, my worst camping mistake!

It's all personal preference I guess. We are onsite at Sea Pines in NJ this year and love it. We always go back there and enjoy it very much. The bathrooms def. need to be updated and maintained better, but we don't use those since we have a TT.I haven't belonged personally, but we camp with some people who are members of Outdoor World, which apparently has recently been purchased by 1000 trails. They have done nothing but complain about the service, rules, requirements, and service since the buyout. Apparently they get different answers when they call with questions, procedures are difficult to understand, and no one seems to be able to give them a straight answer. In addition, we have camped as their guests in a park several times, and I haven't found it to be all that wonderful for the money they have to pay. Poor bathhouses, bad roads, and ugly unmaintained sites have been enough to keep me away. I would rather stay in a KOA. I guess once they get your money and you are locked in, they don't have to respond to their customers the way free market campgrounds do. I am not saying they are all bad, just what my vicarious experience has been.

RE: anyway to get more pressure from shower?

Oh it's def. not that, I tried that;(This might sound silly, but typically these shower heads are adjustable, which means you can stop the flow of water without actually turning the taps off. Just by turning the dial/ring on the shower head you can reduce the pressure or stop the flow of water. My wife also mentioned low pressure one day and I looked at it and discovered this feature and with a slight turn of the dial we had resonable water pressure again. Just a thought. Ron

RE: Is the POLAR PACKAGE a mice breeding ground?

I have heard that having the enclosed underbelly can be a nice holding area for mice, as well as moisture:( I have a 2008 cougar 304bhs with the polar package. i looked underneath and noticed places where mice could get in. i will seal them up. wouldnt a warm enclosed heated belly keep mice in? are we all in trouble whoever has the polar package?

anyway to get more pressure from shower?

Used the new trailer this weekend for the first time. The shower pressure is awful (well, compared to home haha) Is there a way to increase the pressure?

Question about awning/screenroom

Can you use a 19' screenroom on a 21' awning? I'm not sure where they attach, so not sure if this is possible or not?

RE: Need a larger TT

We recently purchased the Puma version. Had our dealer given us a price on the Jayco we wanted, we may have gone with that one (just because we were familiar with Jayco) I purchased the Puma from All Seasons RV in MI and had it shipped to our house in Pa. Great experience all around and not a bad price either! We paid 18222. delivered. The Jayco was around 22-23K. That was just out of our reach with wanting to still purchase other goodies and pay the sales tax. I have pics in my sig:)

RE: Just in!

Congrats!! We just picked up our new TT, first time in something that isn't at least partly tent! (Previously had had a PUP and then an HTT.) We're pretty excited & can't wait to use it, though our schedule may require us to driveway-camp for a while.
